Swat Military Operation, What is the future?

I am writing this post when Pakistan’s Army Operation Rah-e-Rast is about to conclude successfully in Swat Valley against the” Talibans”. At least I hope that it would!
I have no doubt that Army will wipe out the present threat to Pakistan from Talibans and other extremist factors, however, what I am not sure of is what has been done to ensure that this threat will not be posed in future. We have done enough mistakes to learn and do something sustainable to avoid the present situation in future. The time has gone when we could afford the failures; a slightest mistake now might result in disaster.

A long term multifaceted stretigic plan has to be devised and implemented. Not just the security plan but economic and social plans as well. We should not ignore the fact that NWFP in general and FATA in particular have been deprived off basic infrastructure, industrial development and quality education. These factors must be focused on. Make the people living there PAKISTANIS rather than “Qabailies” (Tribesmen). Let those areas be known with their names and not “Elaqa Gher” (NO GO Areas).

Promote the feeling in the people living there that their identity is Pakistan and they are the identity of Pakistan. This is the only way we can have lasting peace in these areas and fail the conspiracies of the enemies who are targeting the very unity of Pakistan.

Change 2013

Being a Pakistani, i should have been sure by now who to support in Election 2013 as the voting is hours away. However, i have my reasons to be undecided yet. I am all confused. No one seems to be with clean hands. The only one who has not been tried yet is IK and seems a reasonable choice in this confusion, however, his so called revolution and promises, by far, sound unrealistic and need only miracles for them to happen. 90 days for elimination of corruption, sounds very unlikely, given very deep roots of corruption and wrong doings in societal setup of Pakistan. I am also very much vary of the social media campaign of PTI, i am not sure if the most of the admins of all those Facebook pages and twiteers' supporting PTI are friends or foes. To me whatever is being said and depicted on social media reflects the very nature and kind of the followers PTI have and i must say, to me, it is, by far, not impressive, instead, it simply drives me away from the party it represent.  They say...

The Agreement with Religious Elements for Sharia Law Implementation in Northern Areas of Pakistan

Well! What shall I say, when the agreement for Sharia Implementation in Northern Areas was reached between the N.W.F.P. Government and Mr. Sufi Muhammad, I was happy and totally in agreement with it. I thought that both the parties were sincere in this deal and the lasting peace could be achieved in troubled areas. But I was so wrong. Mr. Sufi Muhammad (I wouldn't call him Maulana as I don’t think he understands the very basics of Islam) started to think that the government has bowed down to his demands and he has a license to do whatever he wants and challenged the very foundations of Democratic Pakistan, plus he was not able to convince all factions of Taliban to lay down heir weapons. The activities f Taliban continued. Killing, extortion, kidnapping, suicide bombings are all the same, nothing has changed. Now some people are saying that they should be given time but I am with the view that the matter is so sensitive that Pakistan could lose and lose fast. The agreement should ...

Deceptions All Around.

We being Pakistanis are always emotionally charged when it comes to politics, charged to the extent that any reasoning becomes beyond us. We put our loyalties and hatred to a specific political leadership and accept them wholesomely. Once we decide to like or dislike a political leadership, we make them somehow divine creatures. A leader is an angel and the reset demons,  One is saint and all others sinners. We even start living on polars and make it our mission to defend and attack, depends who is who with our hearts and souls. Imran Khan, when stepped into Pakistani politics, it was felt that he is a fresh change in long running two party political game. He did take his time building his reputation as a brave, man of principals sort. Everyone thought he is that chosen one who would bring about positive and constructive change in Pakistani Politics. He stood firm on his principals for some time.  But once he gained the position of political divinity among consid...
